Event Design Samples

I started working with Inherit Learning Company in February of 2019 as a freelance designer. Within a few months I was invited to work full time as a Creative Director. It was my responsibility to establish brand systems, brand new products (like Summer Arrow), and ensure that all of the collateral was produced for each launch. It soon became apparent that we needed more designers on our team, and our Creative Team grew to three in-house members as well as a host of vendors we trusted. We outsourced web design, photography, videography, animation, case study publications, and more. I worked with the team to continually make our processes more efficient so that the team could get the graphics they needed as easily as possible.

I absolutely love helping teams bring their visions to life. It’s one of my favorite things to do. Hopefully we can collaborate to help the Automotive Events team grow in its ability to produce amazing graphics on time and more efficiently.

Focus on Events

Planning Stage

Simple messaging in early stages ensures that the whole team is on the same page. This particular flow chart was created for a course training launch.

Creating the Backlog

Items in the backlog need to be broken up into individual tasks and scheduled. For example, social media posts and emails include a combination of writing, photography, design, and email or post scheduling.

These are some examples of social media posts that were used to introduce our introductory webinar.

Systemization

The whole team worked together to create systems that worked for routine tasks. We used Asana templates to assign components of each task ahead of time. The email and sales page below involved a Product Owner, Writer, Designer, Operations Team Member, and Programmer. The whole sales page can be viewed here

Within Budget

In order to stay within budget, much of the webinar was produced in-house. This video and its marketing was produced using previous photoshoots of Nicole, a previous live webinar, and the webinar slides reformatted for video. Normally I hire out for animation, but for this simple one, I did it myself. This is a proprietary video. I have permission to share it with you, but please do not share outside of this portfolio viewing.

Branding

Each product at Inherit had different followers, clients, and Product Owners. For a client to move from one product to the next was an achievement. The product branding needed to flow from one to the other. Our primary brand color of navy blue remained the same, while the accent color of each product changed as customers progressed into the next level. Note below that as students moved from the free webinar (teal and coral) to the paid course, the branding changed to violet and gold.

Three ads are shown here, but we created a set of more than twenty ads for each launch. These ads and the webinar led to $1K1Day.com.

In order to keep spot colors straight between the seven products of Inherit Learning Company, we created these quick sheets to easily access and share spot colors and logos with the team. Only the design team utilized the full brand system with button styles and further details.

Worksheets, Sales Sheets, and More

There is a library of information sheets, worksheets that go along with each course, syllabi, event programming, and orientation sheets. When appropriate these were created to be fillable PDFs. For live events they were printed, but a poll revealed that at home our students preferred to fill out PDFs online like the OAP worksheet below.

Staging

Each live event and online training had its own presentation. Product Owners set the tone for how the presentation should look, within brand, through a Creative Brief process. The Insider Event was, at Nicole’s request, a very simple design with a destination flair. She preferred to avoid tech hiccups by creating presentations in Google Slides and then downloading them as a PDF. While animations are simple to create in presentation software, we rarely used it.

Tchotchkis

No event would be complete without “stuff,” and we made a lot of it. Here are a few things we created.

These mock-ups were were produced as awards for clients who had achieved the milestone of making five and ten thousand dollar days in their businesses.

Bags, mugs, and a presentation were helped students stay oriented through an immersive tour of the Coca Cola headquarters.

This t-shirt was selected out of a set of five designs provided to the product team for the Inherit Boardroom Executive Escape event.

Banners &
Badges

The Inherit Boardroom Executive Escape was a three day gamified retreat. This event walked ten clients through a vision casting workshop which finished in a Shark Tank style pitch for investors in their company. They were each given Inherit Dollars to invest in each others’ businesses. In the end, there were several awards given out, including magazine covers which highlighted their strengths. All of the magazine covers with each member’s headshot were produced prior to the event so that they were already on hand when the voting was done. These games were the brainchild of Jessica Brown, a business strategist and gamer.

The gifts at this event were from Tiffany’s and other high-end vendors. Attendees each received Tiffany sunglasses and a designer bag. This glass award is also a Tiffany product.
